When I was young I always enjoyed running & when in primary school I ran an 800 meter race for the first time I came 3rd, it wasn't until I went to high school where I caught the running bug, achieving great results representing my state for cross country & my dream started of being a great endurance runner, competing in running events outside of school, I podiumed on several occasions, I knew this was for me, my mind was racing I was now dreaming of being a great Marathoner like Rob de Castella. During my teen years I ran a little, however I let the norms of life take over & everything else was more important, you know what I mean we have all been there!! During these next 10 years I thought a lot about running, reliving my former glories, feeling those feeling, however my teacher hadn't appeared just yet, it was in my late 30's, I was much heavier at 94kgs, I had done nothing with my running, until that day I bent down to tie a shoe lace & I couldn't reach, I thought what has happened? I now felt it was time to fulfil my dream, so off I went and started training, took my time to get ready, lost the weight, prepared my body, planned how this was going to look or work, what did I need to do, before I knew it it was now 2015, I was 74kgs standing at the start line ready for my first marathon in Paris, France-that's right PARIS, I completed the marathon in 3:04, what an amazing thing to do. My family met me after the race when my wife asked how I was, I said "I don't think I can do that again" Now in 2023, I have maintained a healthy body, as I eat a plant based/vegan diet, I have ran 22+ marathons, have completed my 6 star medal-running all of the major Marathons in the World, podiumed in a couple of Marathons, competed in the Wanda Age Championships, now "I am living the Dream"!!
